Wonderful Watermelon

We picked our watermelon from the garden the other day

Jonas had fun helping cut pieces of watermelon

It was Wonderful!

Jonas' First Day of School - Monday, August 23rd

Jonas was very excited to get to school. He met his teacher this past Friday.

We picked up a new backpack that was blue - his favorite color. We also picked up

a new lunch box, for those days that he stays and has lunch. (It's blue, too!)

He was happy to wear his backpack all morning!

He loved his first day of school at First Presbyterian Preschool.

He met new friends and loved playing with the blocks and on the playground!

He came home with a certificate for having a "Great First Day at Pre-K3"

He'll be going MWF mornings this fall. It's going to be a wonderful experience!

A Bit of Birthday Fun on August 19th

After being called into work at 3:15 am on his birthday,

Mark worked until 4 pm without much of a lunch.

He got home and was exhausted! Before Mark took his nap,

we surprised him with some birthday fun!

"End of Summer" FUN

No matter what time of year it is...

Jonas LOVES to cruise around in his red car!

Today he was checking out the fig tree, which has only one little fig on it ...

Then he explored what's left of our summer vegetable garden.

Watermelon that came up on it's own! (no seeds necessary-this year)

Butternut squash that we've enjoyed eating!

Later we went over to the neighbors' house so Jonas

could play with Erin on the slip n slide.

After much encouragement, Jonas ran through the sprinklers!

I looked down and saw them both like this.

I really thought they were going to fall asleep.

It was just past 6 pm ... almost bedtime.

It was a slip n slide fun day!

Each year for our anniversary, we do something fun together - to celebrate our marriage. Thankfully, Mark had the weekend off from work, so we were able to get away :) This year we decided to take a day trip to the beach! Here's a look at some of the fun we had at the beaches of Hilton Head Island, S.C.

Forest Beach: We loved the board walk to this beach!

There was a nice little sprinkler area to play in before you get to the ocean.

Our drive was about 2 1/2 hours, so were very excited to get to the beach!

There was a chance for storms, but luckily we missed them!

The waves look fun!

Jonas is learning to ride the waves!

We found a live sand dollar and it quickly became Jonas' new best friend.

His front was brown and the hole in the middle moved like it was breathing.

The back had tiny fuzzy "feet" that helped it move around.

They became hard and prickly when you touched them.

Jonas really liked to hold onto the sand dollar.

After having fun for a while, he had to bring him

back to his home in the ocean.

There were two people near this part of the beach that got stung by jellyfish, so

we decided to move down the beach a couple of blocks....then Mark got stung by a Jellyfish too! It really surprised us that it was right there. We didn't see it but Mark sure felt it. It wrapped it's tentacle around his ankle and he said it hurt like bad rope burn or an electric shock! We had no idea that we would get that close to a jellyfish or that you are supposed to use vinegar and salt water to lessen the pain. After he recovered a bit, we left that beach to go explore some more of the island.
